Privacy
What we collect, and why.
Kami is a private alpha. To run it we keep a small amount of personal data about the people on the waitlist and the people testing. This page lists all of it.
What we collect
- On the waitlist: your email address, and the name and note you choose to add.
- With an account: your email address, your name and a hash of your password (never the password itself), when you created the account and when you last logged in.
- For each Mac signed in to Kami: the device's name, the Kami version it runs and when it last checked in.
- For each browser session: the browser's user agent and when the session was last used.
- Your IP address, to limit login attempts and waitlist sign-ups. It is held in the server's memory only, is not stored in the database, and is gone when the server restarts.
The app talks to this site to sign you in, to check your account (about every six hours), to check for updates (daily) and to download an update. None of these carries your code, your projects or your file names.
Kami's usage statistics and crash reports are off until you opt in: usage counts go to PostHog (EU), and a crash report goes to Sentry only when you agree to send it, each time or always. If you connect an AI provider, the code you ask about goes to that provider, never to us.
Why
Only to run the alpha: deciding who to invite, sending the invite, letting you log in and download Kami, keeping the app signed in, and seeing which versions are in use so we know when it is safe to retire an old one. We do not sell your data.
Who else handles it
- Resend sends our emails: invites and password resets. It sees your email address and the message.
- GitHub serves the downloads, so it sees the request when you download Kami.
Apart from the opt-in services described above, there are no other processors.
Cookies
One: a session cookie that keeps you logged in, set only after you log in. No analytics, no tracking cookies, no third-party scripts, so there is no cookie banner.
How long we keep it
Until the alpha ends or you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. Expired invites, sessions and reset links stop working at once and are not used for anything else.
Deleting your data
If you have an account, Delete my account on your Account page removes it, along with your sessions and devices. Otherwise, or if you would rather we do it, email [email protected] and we will delete everything we hold about you, including your waitlist entry.
